'We must not be isolated. Peoples should aim to unite, to amalgamate; they should not isolate themselves.' Sonia Delaunay

The exhibition showcases more than forty works from the Malmö konstmuseum collection, one of Sweden's most significant public collections. The selection spans from the 19th century to the contemporary period and features artists who have experienced exile or explore migration themes through various mediums.

The exhibition's unifying element is Sonia Delaunay-Terk's 1952 gouache painting 'Rythme Couleur' from the Malmö konstmuseum collection. This painting inspired coloured cut-out surfaces mounted on freestanding folding screens. These cut-outs reinterpret Sonia Delaunay-Terk's gouaches and support selected works alongside a series of wall paintings.

The murals echoed the cut-outs when they were initially displayed at Tensta konsthall, creating contrasting shapes that framed the gallery space. When the exhibition was relocated to Malmö konstmuseum, the murals were adapted to the new environment, resulting in more uniform fields of colour.
